Kevin Iwasa-Madge, MHSc, RD, CSCS
Kevin completed a Bachelors degree at the University of Guelph in Applied Human Nutrition, and a Masters degree in Nutrition Communication at Ryerson University. While in Guelph, Kevin wrestled for the U of G varsity team, winning both an individual national title and captaining the team to a 3rd place finish. Following graduation, Kevin competed on the National Team for several years, highlighting his career with a 5th place finish at the University World Championships, and was the runner up at the 2016 Greco Roman Olympic Team Trials.
Kevin is a Registered Dietitian, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, ISAK - Level 1 Accredited Anthropometrist, and a Coach. Kevin completed the National Coaching Certification Program’s (NCCP) Multisport modules at the Competition Development level, as well as Competition Introduction Wrestling and Weightlifting modules. Kevin has worked with teams and organizations such as the Toronto Swim Club, Softball Ontario, U of G Varsity Football team, Guelph Triathlon club – Regional Training Centre, Kitchener Waterloo Football Club, Upright Rugby Canada, Swimming Science, and Mavericks Waterpolo club. He has also focused his services on the combat sport world, working with the Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association, Guelph Wrestling Club, Discipline Martial Arts, and Battle Arts Academy. Kevin is currently working for the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario as a Sport Nutritionist. In addition to working hands on with elite athletes and teams, Kevin is a part-time professor at Sheridan College in the Kinesiology and Health Promotion program as part of the Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies. Kevin has taught courses on nutrition, exercise technique, fitness assessment, anatomy and physiology, health and wellness, program design, and health for special populations. Kevin draws upon his experience as an elite athlete, combined with a strong academic understanding, formal training as a dietitian and strength and conditioning specialist, and competent coaching ability to develop athletes to their fullest potential.
